Trackman files FELA lawsuit

May 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

A former employee of Union Pacific has filed a lawsuit against them recently, claiming that his employer failed to provide him with a safe working environment. Billy Surratt claims that his time as a trackman required him to perform damaging repetitive motions, which caused him injuries over time. He claims injuries in his back, knees, and feet as a result of the demanding physical labor.

Protected by FELA laws, railroad workers are able to file a lawsuit against their employers if they believe that the negligent actions of their employer is to blame for their injuries.

Surratt is seeking damages for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
