September 25th, 2007 · No Comments

In a story run in the Madison Record in

Illinois on May 30 of this year, reporter Ann Knef detailed a claim filed by railroad worker Russell R. Baucum against his employer, Union Pacific.  In the complaint, Baucum claims that he sustained several severe and permanent injuries while repairing railroad tracks in December of 2006.  Specifically, Baucum claimed the following:

  1. That he was overworked and did not have sufficient rest;
  2. That he had to work for 27 consecutive hours;
  3. That the railroad did not provide a safe working environment;
  4. That the railroad did not provide a safe method of work;
  5. That the railroad failed to supply sufficient manpower;
  6. That the railroad failed to supply safe tools and equipment.

Baucum is seeking more than $100,000 in damages for his injuries.  If you have been injured while working on a railroad, contact the FELA lawyers at Williams Kherkher for a free initial consultation.
